I am proud to be recipient of the Theo Moorman Trust Award 2018. The project focuses on re-assessing my woven sculptural work X-Ray series. The Award is supporting my in-depth research on the role of textiles in the 20th century in recent years. I will be travelling to Paris to meet and discuss work with textile artist Sheila Hicks who has kindly agreed to meet me at her solo exhibition at the Centre Pompidou this April. On my return, I will continue experimenting with new processes and materials in my studio.
Works I am making explore the idea of function, expectations and limitation we have for objects and people. The project will enable me to question, and express my findings through new mediums and processes resulting in sculptural works.
